Tuba Section

This section contains the following players:

1. Gwen Norton (E-flat bass)
2. Peter Wilkinson (E-flat bass, also doubling up on Euphonium)
3. Clive Torr (E-flat bass)
4. Alexei du Bois (E-flat bass or B-flat bass)
5. Mike Kode (B-flat bass)

The tuba is the largest of the brass instruments and consequently has the deepest tone.  The B-flat instrument is deeper than the E-flat instrument.

Tuba players in marching bands are considered justified in complaining about the weight of the burden that they have to bear - which probably explains the development of the Sousaphone, which rests on the player's shoulders.  Needless to say, Cape Town Concert Brass does not have a Sousaphone.
