Cape Town Concert Brass

John Walton

John is our esteemed conductor.  John joined the band in 2003 when he stepped in to help us out for a concert.  Foolishly John thought that this would be a one-off but, three years later, he is very much part of Cape Town Concert Brass.  Under John's musical direction the band has thrived and expanded.

John is a versatile musician who heads the music department at the South African College High School where one of his loves is being band programme director. John composes music and writes arrangements on a regular basis for a variety of clients including the Johannesburg Music Initiative; is the Music Director of the Cape Town Concert Brass; and works as a pianist/accompanist; etc, etc..., as well as (most importantly!!!) being husband to Rachel and father to Peter, Sarah and Amy plus the menagerie...
