Cape Town Concert Brass

James Smith

Jimmy is one our Solo Cornet players, well-known for his strong work when volume is required.  He has also played the Tuba for us in days gone by and is eager/willing to try all instruments in between.  He also plays the cello.

By profession James is an information systems specialist.  He works at Telkom.

Jimmy and Louise live in Wynberg, although he originally comes from Port Elizabeth (where he was part of the famous Grey High School Band).

Jimmy is a regular member of the "Kreefing crew" - during the Crayfish season he has joined other members of the band on expeditions to extract quota from the waters around Cape Town.  He points out that since he met up with Louise a portion of his quota now has to go home with him, much to the chagrin of the other crew members!

Jimmy is one of a number of "party animals" amongst the band although few can match his feat of 24 beers within 1 day on our last Mossel Bay tour.  Somehow he managed to wake the next day without a hangover.
